A Typical Day in mrs. Martin’s Class

Morning Schedule 8:45-11:45

We start our day with read aloud,calendar, and a morning meeting.  Then we have a reading mini lesson followed by our Daily 5 Literacy Centers.  Our Daily 5 Literacy Centers have 5 components:  technology, Listening Center, Read to Someone, Working with Words,  and Work on Writing.  I meet with my reading groups during Daily 5 Centers.Then we usually have snack.  If the weather permits, we go outside for recess after snack.Then we have a math mini lesson, followed by math centers.  Our math centers have 4 stations:  technology, exploring math manipulatives, practicing current math skills, and playing a math game. Mrs. Martin meets with math groups during math centers too.


Afternoon Schedule 12:35-3:35

After lunch  and recess,  we have another read aloud, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, and then we have Integration time. This is time for Reading and Writing Workshop.  We also have content time for science, social studies, or health.  At 2:05-2:45 we have specials where the children go to PE, LRC, or Fine Arts.  We end our day with Exploration Time.  Exploration Time is for socialization.  The students do various activities such as playing in the kitchen, using Play-Doh, computer time, blocks, puppets, puzzles, and more!  After our Exploration Time we have a meeting at the end of the day.
