Room 212 CollaborationRoom 212 Collaboration
In Room 212 our day and learning revolves around collaboration. From whole group to small group, students are having discussions and learning from one another. Even during independent time students are often working on something that they then bring to small group later. Word work, spelling, literacy group, math story problems – most completed independently – are then shared and discussed in group. This collaboration and sharing of strategies gives students an opportunity to hear the ideas of others and push each other’s thinking.
Students are studying the revolutionary war throughout different subjects of our day, as well as in LRC. This week we focused on Ladies of Liberty, and the woman’s role during the revolutionary war. We highlighted biographies of some influential wives of patriots and first ladies and then did a meet and greet discussion. The students suggested it be a tea party but, after realizing patriots boycotted tea, suggested hot cocoa. You’ll see in the photos below students sharing in discussion about these important women and practicing communication skills while sipping a special treat!
