Mr. Wall’s Class InformationMr. Wall’s Class Information

What an exciting school year we have ahead of us!  It was so great to meet some of you already at open house.  I appreciate all the work you have already put in preparing your child for school from buying clothes and supplies, to ensuring they read over the summer.  I have gathered some of the important information regarding this coming school year to share with you.

Attendance

For each day absent, students will have one day to make up work (unless of course there is a unique circumstance).  A list of missed learning activities and copies of missed materials will be collected for the student. If a student needs additional reteaching of a missed lesson, they can schedule a time with me outside of the regular school day.

Homework

Students are expected to read nightly (at least 30 minutes) and will usually have additional work to complete, most often in math.  Homework is checked for completion everyday.  When a student misses their homework, a letter is sent home indicating the assignment.

Behavior

Student behavior will usually be dealt with in class.  Parents will be notified, usually through a behavioral referral, in regards to:

-Frequent, repeated minor violation of classroom rules

-A serious violation of school policy

Parents are welcome to contact me anytime in order to discuss their child’s behavior or academic performance.

How You Can Help at Home

In order to ensure that I am doing the best job possible ensuring your child’s academic success, I need your help.  Of course, you know your child best and anything you can tell me that will help me better connect with and meet the needs of your child is very much appreciated.  Some other things you can do at home to help your child be as academically successful as possible are:

  • Take time to review work that comes home with your child, praising and encouraging them in their work
  • Make sure they are doing their nightly reading
  • Provide a quiet and consistent place and time for them to complete homework
  • Talk to me if you have questions about any assignments, notices coming home, or your child’s behavior

Thanks again.  If you have any further questions, or have information that you think is important for me to know, please feel free to call or email me.
